Jessica trained at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. Recent engagements in 2019 include Euridice Orfeo & Euridice, and soprano soloist for the Pop-Up Opera Tour 2019 (both with Scottish Opera) and Tebaldo Don Carlo (Grange Park Opera).
For Scottish Opera, Jessica has appeared several times as a soloist for the Pop-Up Opera Tour, and in the roles of Sandman (Cover) Hansel and Gretel, Eurydice Orpheus in the Underworld (Education Tour), and Helena A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Further roles include Musetta La Boheme (Edinburgh International Festival Outreach), Iphis Jephtha (Iford Opera), Edelknabe Lohengrin (Bayreuth Festival), Damigella/Venere L’incoronazione di Poppea (Aldeburgh), and the roles of Adina L’elisir d’amore, Anne Truelove The Rake’s Progress, Lucia The Rape of Lucretia. From 2012 to 2016, she was a member of the prestigious Bayreuth Festival Chorus.
Highlights on the concert platform include Bach St Matthew Passion, Blow Venus and Adonis (Cupid) and Handel Arias with Dunedin Consort; Bach A Christmas Oratorio with Ludus Baroque; Villa-Lobos Bachianas Brasileiras with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra (recorded for BBC Radio 3); Vaughan Williams A Pastoral Symphony with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra.
A Samling Artist and Britten-Pears Young Artist, she was a semi-finalist in the Royal Overseas League Competition and London Bach Singing Competition, and at the RCS she was the winner of multiple awards including the Ye Cronies Opera Prize, the Frank Spedding Lieder Prize, Bill Dewar Memorial Award, Robertson Trust Award, and Governor’s Recital Prize.
